General Anxiety Disorder and Ways to Cure It

I used to suffer with general anxiety disorder and you can read a personal account of my suffering on my personal blog. The address is given at the end of the article. This article is to provide you with an understanding of what GAD is and how you can combat the effects.

OK so what is GAD

General anxiety disorder is more commonly known as Generalized anxiety disorder and is suffered by many people. Everyone feels anxious from time to time, but when you suffer from general anxiety disorder, you always fear that the worst will happen and you can not relax and unwind. Sometimes you do not stress for something in particular but yet you feel a persistent tension throughout the day. You may also have a headache or pain in the stomach for no particular reason and you may feel very tired.

Most people feel anxiety before a stressful event, like an important presentation at work or a traumatic event. A bit of stress from time to time does not hurt: it can motivate you to make the best of yourself or have the right attitude to face a dangerous situation.

However, when anxiety comes along, and the stress starts for no apparent reason and this general concern becomes excessive and persistent to a point where it intrudes on your daily habits, it becomes a problem that must be addressed.

Understand and identify general anxiety disorder.

What is general anxiety disorder (GAD)? It is natural to worry about your finances if you lose your job, or worry for your health if you start having chest pain. But the general anxiety disorder is not related to concerns that are realistic or natural. The general anxiety disorder is a feeling of stress and chronic anxiety along with excessive concerns about events that have a low chance to occur.

General anxiety disorder occurs when normal levels of anxiety and stress become invasive and persist for several weeks to several months. Living a normal life becomes complicated for people with anxiety disorder because they have not managed to deal with these high levels of concern, focusing only on what can go wrong and making them unable to take control of events. General anxiety disorder affects three to four percent of the population, with twice as many women as men affected.

People with this disorder are disproportionately concerned about their health, money problems, family problems or difficulties at work. People with anxiety disorders are often aware that their stress level is greater than required by the situation, yet some people are convinced that this concern protects them from the vagaries of life and helps them cope . In both cases, people living with this problem can not forget their concerns. For example, the mere idea of living a full day produces anxiety. Most individuals with this level of stress do not avoid social activities, but they go there with a exaggerated level concern even if there is nothing to fear. For others the anxiety and physical symptoms of anxiety disorder interferes with their work, social relationships and their daily lives.

Signs and symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder

Do you find yourself saying these statements to yourself?

"I can not help but imagine the worst .... it makes me crazy!"

"It is late, it should be there in 20 minutes! It is surely an accident happened!"

"I can not sleep, I feel so nervous ... and I do not know why!"

The spirit of a person with generalized anxiety disorder is like a car engine that runs at full speed: the thoughts of the person never stop, with a constant anxiety returning repeatedly. Typical symptoms and behaviours associated with stress and generalized anxiety disorder are:

Chronic concern for events that are unlikely to occur

Inability to forget anxious thoughts

Anxiety

Inability to relax

Difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep

Lack of energy

Shakes

Muscle tension, soreness

Stomach problems (nausea or diarrhea)

Headaches

Chest pains

Dry mouth

Teeth grinding

Sweats

Dizziness

Difficulty concentrating

Irritability

Procrastination

How to deal with this condition and reduce it's effects.

There are a vast array of methods and techniques to relieve these symptoms naturally as well as medication being available. I think any doctor would tell you that if it is at all possible to deal with this naturally without taking drugs of any kind then that is going to be a lot better in the long run.

These methods and techniques are too numerous to deal with properly in this article but there are many resources on the web to help you. I mentioned earlier about my personal blog and you can read there about how I have managed to find a solution to this problem.

Out of the many resources on the net the one that I have found to work for me is the Panic Away product. This is basically a natural method of dealing with anxiety and focuses on "mental reprogramming techniques" to break the circle of worry that is the root cause of this affliction. Drugs be the only answer in some severe cases of general anxiety disorder but if they can be avoided by using a solution such as this then it is so much better.

Home STD Tests

Home STD tests, which are starting to appear online may help to stem the rapid growth of STDs which are increasing at a rapid rate throughout most of the world. Outbreaks of Chlamydia have increased by over 40% during the last few years in America and Britain. It is a fact that cases of Chlamydia have increased every years since records began back in 1984. As many who are infected with Chlamydia show no symptoms, experts suggests that the actual figures of those infected is much higher than the actual figures.

The statistics show an unequal gender proportion when you look at men who have been infection compared to women. This is down to the fact that women are more likely to be screened for the disease in their lifetime compared to men. Women are often screened for STDs during pregnancy or during smear tests whereas men can go decades without ever being tested.

Many of those who think they may have contracted some form of STD are hesitant to consult their doctor simply due to the stigma of having an STD. The simple fact is that if any STD is left untreated it can seriously damage your health in the long term.

Home STD tests offer the patient the option to take a test in complete privacy. A test can be order online and a urine sample is posted to a lab with results available in a few days. Other STD test can be ordered where you visit a private clinic, perhaps not in your home area and again the results are either sent to you or are available online for your viewing in complete privacy.

Cheap STD tests that do not involve a lab should be avoided. These are in many cases poor quality test kits or scams so the results can't be trusted.

For anybody who has had unprotected intercourse a home STD test can give you the peace of mind to get on with your life without worry. There now is no excuse for you not to get tested!

Health - Do You Find it Hard to Heal?

Do you find it hard to heal? What are you thinking when you are sick?

Now, we are not talking about positive thinking, although positive thinking is important. We are talking about programming-our-brain thinking. There is a difference. The difference is when we think of positive thinking, we sometimes think it means telling ourselves lies to keep us going. What it is, really, is when you talk to your brain, you are giving your brain directions.

Let's say you have a bad back. Positive thinking might be something like a chant. For instance, "My back is better, my back is better, my back is better."

I'm not saying that's bad, nor am I saying it's ineffective. I am just saying that when we take charge and talk to our brain -- program our brain, we get things done faster.

How about: "Man, am I sick!" Yes, that is programming. And if you find yourself doing that, maybe you could consider saying something more positive.

Forget that you've got a headache or stomachache or whatever, and just concentrate on what is going into the brain. Pretend your brain is your child and that that child is going to mimic everything you do, say, or think, and duplicate it perfectly.

What do you want your child, your brain, to duplicate? Certainly not "Man, am I sick!", right? You think you're sick now, just wait a moment and you'll be sicker. Why? Because you've just programmed it.

So, let's put two and two together. You are saying *Man, am I sick!* AND you are feeling sick. That's not a coincidence, is it?

Do you see what you are doing every time you talk or think about your illness? You are programming something, right? How about programming this? "I wasn't feeling so hot, but now I'm feeling better." You didn't give your brain a bad place to land. "I have a headache." It's no secret where it landed there, is it?

It isn't that when you state the illness in the past tense, you will no longer be sick. But when you say you "are" sick, you will be sick longer, because that's how you are programming your brain, making it harder for it to get well.
We need to give our brains a chance, instead of continually programming them with illness when we are sick, we need to get our brain to look toward wellness.

What are you saying or thinking? Where is your brain landing?

When you say something is bad, you are telling your brain something is bad, and there lies the vicious circle. Change your thoughts and see what happens. Never give up.

Where does your brain land? Always look at every sentence you say, and see if you can change it to something better. Practice being happy, so your brain will be in the habit of making you happy.

Good luck!

Thanks for reading.

A Brief History of Stairlifts
The assistive devices known as stairlifts don't have a long history, but consistent technological advances in stairlifts have assured that they will have a bright future during the 21st century. Believe it or not, the history of stairlifts is not that long. They have only been around since the 1930s when the Inclinator Company of America introduced them. Many of the earliest users were disabled by the polio epidemics of that time and couldn't climb stairs easily.

Interestingly enough, the earliest ancestor of the stairlift device was created centuries ago for King Henry VIII, who, after being injured in a jousting incident, used a block and tackle system operated by servants to go up and down stairs. Modern stairlifts don't require a large staff of servants or any block and tackle to operate, however. A stairlift consists of a rail mounted along a stairwell or staircase with a chair or lifting platform attached to it. The person using it simply folds down the chair, sits, and then operates the controls for a smooth gentle ascent of the staircase.

The history of stairlifts includes many technological innovations and the addition of a variety of features to make them safer, more comfortable and easier to use. For instance, modern chair lifts feature adjustable seat height, swiveling seats, isolation switches, folding steps, armrests, speed governors, seatbelts, and so-called soft starts and soft stops. Stairlifts either run on a straight rail or a curved rail depending on the shape of the staircase where they're installed. These devices can also be installed on either the right or left side of a stairway. However, it should be noted that curved rail stairlifts are generally more expensive than the simpler straight rail models because of the added expense of measuring and fitting the rails to curved surfaces that often vary widely in length and the angle of the curve.

The history of stairlifts also includes the invention of outdoor stairlifts. These are similar in design and function to indoor stairlifts, but of course must be made weatherproofed so that water and dust don't get inside the housing for the electric motor that powers the device. Outdoor stairlifts also generally come with removable covers for so that they don't become too sun-damaged, rain-soaked, or weather-beaten to be comfortable for the user.

One of the most interesting innovations in the history of stairlifts is the battery-powered stairlift that includes a battery between the power outlet and the stairlift's motor. These are handy for areas that are prone to power outages because the battery provides power to the motor even when there is no electricity in other areas of the home. Battery-powered stair lifts are generally more expensive than models that plug directly into an AC power outlet and have the disadvantage of having to replace the batteries periodically. There are also heavy-duty stairlifts available that can support people who weigh up to 500 pounds. Since it appears that America's population is growing bulkier, these heavy-duty stairlifts will undoubtedly become more popular, and models that can support even larger people will come onto the market.

The demand for stairlifts will likely skyrocket as America's population ages and more people live to advanced ages in the coming decades. There's no doubt that technological advances will continue to play a large role in this industry as new, more powerful, more efficient motors will be installed that last longer and consume far less energy. Even if new high-tech wheelchairs that can climb stairs become a lot cheaper and more readily available, it seems there will always be a market for stairlifts in stairways that are too narrow and curved to accommodate such wheelchairs.

Lowering High Blood Pressure With Massage Therapy

High blood pressure touches many lives. Many people spend money on drugs for lowering their blood pressure every year. Pharmaceutical drugs help lower it, but also have dangerous side effects, including liver damage. In this article we'll take a closer look at high blood pressure. Then we'll look at how including massage in your health routine can help you control your hypertension.

Blood pressure is the measurement of how hard blood pushes on the arterial walls as it move through the body. If you have hypertension your heart is working way too hard and your artery walls are hardening. The fact that your heart is overworking puts you at greater danger of developing heart disease. It also causes an increased risk of kidney problems and blindness. In order to avoid these terrible health problems, you must work on lowering your blood pressure.

A number of factors can cause hypertension. Your arteries could be narrowing as a result of plague build up. Your heart could be beating too hard pumping a larger than normal volume of blood through the body. For many people the reason for developing this disorder is unknown.

Many people don't know that they have hypertension. While many people will get this condition as they age, African Americans are much more likely to develop it. Having a family history of the disorder and being overweight are two other risk factors for the disease. It's important that you get checked on a regular basis to make sure yours is normal. If it's high you should work with your doctor to try to control it. You wouldn't want to have to health problems associated with letting the problem go and not doing anything.

There are many lifestyle changes you can make to help you control hypertension. Reducing the amount of sodium in your diet, getting regular exercise and meditation are just a few ways to help you control it. Another way is massage. Massage therapy calms the nervous system. It causes relaxing-feel-good neurotransmitters like dopamine to enter the bloodstream. This calming influence helps reduce the amount of pressure your blood puts on your arterial walls. Getting massage on a regular basis can be help you manage your blood pressure.

Get a note from your doctor before going to your local massage therapist's office. Your doctor must give the okay before you start using massage to help manage hypertension. Make sure you let your massage therapist know about your condition and give your therapist the note from your doctor giving you permission to get massage.

Once you start including massage as part of your health routine, you'll notice the calming effect. You'll feel better physically and you'll be less dependent on drugs for lowering your blood pressure.
